AWCI of the Carolinas Mission Plan
We, the members of AWCI of the Carolinas, recognize the overwhelming contributions made by the Association of the Walls and Ceilings Industries International through education and proactive responses to important technical issues. It is this example that moves us to bring the benefits of the AWCI to a finer focus in our market. The AWCI of the Carolinas shall provide education, training and a communication forum for the members, construction professionals and consumers of the specialty trades represented by the AWCI. These specialty trades engage in acoustics systems, ceiling systems, drywall systems, exterior insulation and finishing systems, fireproofing, flooring systems, insulation, lathe and plaster, stucco contractors, supply, manufacture and allied trades.
The members of North Carolina and South Carolina benefit from sharing technical information and are unique from the rest of the country in climate, building practices, material distribution, the use of materials and expertise of the skilled work force. Thus, the culture of the code bodies, architects, engineers, legislature and of the people is very much a brotherhood or sisterhood. One looks too and follows the other.
AWCI of the Carolinas will facilitate education and the exchange of technical information across the industry. We shall reach out and provide the opportunity for education to the natural members of our trades and professional education to architects, engineers, inspectors, municipalities etc. Other trade groups of our industries are natural members and should be included. The AWCI of the Carolinas will regularly sponsor, in various locations, presenters and seminars on mold, mold prevention, framing, sheathing, EIFS, ceilings, wall systems, lathe, plaster, tile, material toxicities, air borne pathogens, fire suppression, etc. and how these apply to the Carolinas.
The members of AWCI of the Carolinas shall endeavor to promote fraternity, provide services and undertake activities that enhance the members’ ability to operate a successful business. We saw the train wreck coming with EIFS. There was nothing we could do. Education across the industry could have prevented our coastline from becoming ‘ground zero’. AWCI International has the resources and network of expertise to help.
